How do I get off a Spammers List?
Firstly, do not reply to spam as it shows that your email address is active and therefore a target for further spam.
Unfortunately, once your email address is on a spammers list, it is often impossible to remove it.
You can, however, use spam filters to divert or block spam. This can be done by:
- purchasing spam blocking software which you install on your own computer
- having your Internet Service Provider block spam for you
- configuring spam filters already installed on some popular email programs such as Outlook
Spam filters can be helpful but can also block or divert email that is not spam.
You can also report the spammer to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (www.acma.gov.au) who will investigate the issue for you.
