What is Netiquette?
Netiquette describes the rules for online behaviour especially in newsgroups, forums and chat rooms. It is derived from the two words Internet and etiquette.
Members of an online community usually enforce netiquette and moderators of the community often set the ground rules to use.
Examples of netiquette include:
- not typing in capitals (LIKE THIS) as it is seen as shouting
- not sending bulk email or spam
- not defaming people online
- responding appropriately to requests
- using Internet acronyms or emoticons.
